The gospel is true! I love it!

Fam!

We had a really great week! We had some investigators in church and a less active guy come! It was great! The bad news is that its suppose to be in the 30's [thats 90's in Farenheit- which according to another Elders letter is quite unseasonably warm and unexpected. The houses there don't even have air conditioning just fans...] this week... Im going to melt... :) haha [wait until he sees what it's like here!!!]

So awesome story. Elder South and I found a lady our first day together but she was busy with test from school so she told us to come back June 16. The first couple times she was sleeping cause she works nights... But then we went by and she comes to the door and we start talking and she lets us in but she has to go pick up her daughter. So when she calls we have to leave. So we don't really know how long we have to teach her. But we start teaching the Restoration and she is listening and asking questions and it went really smooth and it was just to her needs. The spirit really guided us. So we end and ask her if she would get baptized. She said yes and we set a goal with her to be baptized on July 26 and she said yes! She also told us she was excited to share this with her husband and her daughters! So cool! And right after that the home phone rings and its her daughter. Her daughter had tried to call her cell phone but it was off. (Blessings) She never got the call which allowed us to finish the lesson and set the date! Amazing! :)​

The sisters have an investigator named Benjamin but we teach him as well. We have become really good friends in such a short period of time. We went and taught him this week. He is incredible. He wants to go on a mission. He is getting baptized on the 19th of July. He will be an incredible missionary. We talked to him about a mission and it was super cool.

I love it here in Sint Niklaas.

Fam! 

We had a great week. 

First, yesterday was a crazy day. So I was asked right before sacrament meeting to give a talk on the spot. And I wasn't even that scared! haha I had to give it in Dutch too! haha It was really cool. That was the first time I have been asked on the spot to speak! :) But then after that I gave a lesson in Gospel Principles class. That was fun! Then we got to go teach Tarik. He is a member referral from a less active member. Ironic. But we brought Vanilson who was baptized a couple months ago. And he is 15 the same age as Tarik and he was incredible. The lesson went really well. And right before we went into Tariks house a less active member who is a friend of Tarik was there and he stayed for the lesson. And we talked about the second half of the plan of Salvation. It went really well. And they all promised to come to church and to bring the member who brought Tarik. Its going to be a party in young mens next week! I'm so excited! It was so cool!!! 

Then Saturday night we had a lesson with a guy who has been investigating forever. We talked about Temples. He loved it. We showed him some pictures and he kept saying is this really what it looks like? it was awesome. Unfortunately when we asked him to pray about it he didn't really want to. He doesn't want to get an answer because he knows if he does than he has to change. So basically what I get from that is that he knows its good and true but he doesn't want to risk having to stop bad habits. Super sad... Someday. :) I'm just thankful for the opportunity we had to teach and testify of the truthfulness of the gospel! Its true! :)

I love the Lord. He blesses us in ways that sometimes are really simple but its enough to keep us going. I know He knows us personally and loves us. I'm so grateful for this knowledge!

I am so grateful for the Sacrament

Yes mom I got the package thank you so much! I want to keep the shirts! :) That is a great video of the birthday song! And it doesn't surprise me that Austin did great! He's a stud!

This week was kinda crazy but it was a great week. I had a really cool experience on exchanges with Elder Bernier. (He knows Wesley's trainer really well) Anyway we were just knocking doors and like usual people wouldn't even give us 5 seconds. So this old guy answers the door and he says no. Well his wife did from upstairs so we were walking away and he asked us how we know dutch. So we went back and talked to him for a while and we gave him a BvM. He kept saying i don't believe in God. then he would look through the book. then we would testify and he would look at the book again. It was pretty strange. He didn't want us to come back but he couldn't stop looking at the book. And I realized that the spirit was working in him. Hopefully he reads the Book of Mormon. :) 

A lot of our appointments fell through this week. Which is always unfortunate so we knocked a lot of doors. :)

I am so grateful for the Sacrament. I have been thinking about it a lot lately and I was reading in 3 Nephi 18. I never understood the importance of the Sacrament before my mission or even in the beginning. Sometimes its hard to still understand it. But the last two weeks I have really tried to prepare for it and it has been awesome to feel the difference. I know that God Loves us. We can feel his love and forgiveness as we prepare for the sacrament and think about what it really means!

Fam!!!

We went on splits this week with the members. I went with Jarno Buysse our ward mission leader. Super awesome. We went to an investigator named Maarte. He has been investigating for a long time. We talked to him about a lot of things and at the end we talked about prayer. We explained it very simply so he could understand and we invited him to pray. At first he didn't want to pray at all. But after a while he started to pray. It was such a sincere prayer. He is really making progress. He also asked me why the missionaries have a glow around them. I'm really excited to teach him this Saturday!

I love it so much in Sint Niklaas!! The Ward is incredible! I cant begin to explain how much of an example they are. I had one of my coolest personal experiences on my mission! It was testimony meeting and everyone that got up to share there testimony was just shining! It was amazing. I don't really know how to explain it! I just felt like I need to be here to learn how to do member missionary work! There were a lot of people in church and it was such a spiritual meeting and all of the classes went really well! I had to give the lesson in Investigators class without having read the lesson before hand. God truly does help in all situations! :) It is so cool how a mission helps you be prepared for any situation and to do it with no fear. That has been one of my greatest lessons! I have been able to overcome a lot of my fears!

I'm sorry that this is a pretty short email. I'm doing really good though. I love and miss you all very much!

Nothing worth striving for is easy

Fam!

What an awesome week!!! I'm finally in Sint Niklaas! I love it! We had some awesome miracles!!

So Saturday night it was around 8 and we had nothing planned so we went door knocking. I love it. So we have been knocking for about 45 minutes and we were just getting rejected like crazy! We had like 2 nice conversations. So I was about done and without saying anything to each other we both had the feeling of doing one more. So we walked to the next door and a nice lady answers and we start talking. About 2 minutes into the conversation she says "willen jullie iets drinken" that is music to the ears of missionaries!!!! She let us in and we were able to teach her the first lesson. We invited to her to come to church the next day. And guess what?! She came!!! It was super cool! We have another lesson with her this Friday and I'm so excited!! 

Its sometimes really strange how the Lord works. We knocked a ton of doors this week and we found some people who were interested but we only taught the one. But he blessed us with something else. There is a boy named Tarik and he has come to church a couple of times and we had the opportunity to teach him the first lesson also. Hopefully we can teach him and his mom this coming week. He told us that if he mom let him he would get baptized! He is super cool. He is only 15 but came to church last week in a suit! haha so sick! I'm pretty excited to teach him. 

I love how the Lord blesses us in ways we don't expect. Often times we try our best and work our tails off and we feel like nothing comes of it. But Heavenly Father always has something in store for us. And most of the time its different than we expect. Like Elder South and I, we knocked doors for hours this week and it seemed like nothing came from it but we were able to teach 2 new people. God sees that we are willing and tests us to keep going to keep pushing and then comes the blessing. In Ether 12:12-18 it talks about how miracles were wrought after they had faith. Faith is action. Its not until after we act that the miracles come! I'm so grateful for a Father in Heaven who helps us become more steadfast in the Gospel. He doesn't make it easy and that's what makes it worth it! Nothing worth striving for is easy! I love you all!!!
